24.Shiraito no Taki waterfalls
Shiraito no Taki waterfalls are originated from Mt. Fuji’s subsoil water. River water and the spring water gushing out of lava fault get together to run down from approx. 200m wide and 20m high cliff, as if like the cascading numerous white silk threads. Dropping by the falls on the occasion of a hunting session at Mt. Fuji, Minamoto no Yoritomo created a waka poem, meaning as follows; ” There must be a beautiful princess up there! Cascading such threads like these down here in the Shiraito no taki.” Above the falls, there is a spring named “Obinmizu”, which is said to be the place where Yoritomo fixed his stray hair and later became one of Fuji-ko adherents’ sacred places. In its vicinity, there is also the dynamic "Otodome no Taki Waterfall".
