22.Yoshida lava tree molds
The cave here was formed at the eastern end of Ken-marubi lava flow generated due to the eruption in 937 during Heian period, and was discovered by Fuji-ko believers in 1892 during Meiji period. It consists of a horizontal hole-type of tree mold, three well-crib-shaped tree molds, and a small cylindrical horizontal hole-type of tree mold. In the horizontal hole-typed one, grain patterns still remain clearly, and lava stalagmite also can be seen in its bottom surface. These have been preserved by Fuji-ko adherents and Oshi people who visited Mt. Fuji. Although the inside of the cave is not open to public, “Yoshida Tainai Festival” is held at this place once a year.
