1_1.Mountaintop worship sites

At the summit, there are many worship sites to tell the value of Mt. Fuji as the “subject of faith”, including the Kusushi-jinja Shrine (formerly Yakushido Hall) which is the subordinate shrine of Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine, and the wells of "Kimmeisui" and "Gimmeisui", where the snowmelt at the summit leaks out of the ground. There is a looped pilgrimage route called "Hachiyo (Ohachi or a bowl)". It was so named as people thought that the shape of peaks surrounding the crater represented the world depicted in a Buddhism mandala. So, these worship sites are very important in the belief in Mt. Fuji.
